چکیده
Abstract The Lunar Geophysical Network (LGN) mission is proposed to land on the Moon in 2030 and deploy packages at four locations enable geophysical measurements for 6–10 yr. Returning lunar surface with a long-lived network key next step advance planetary science. LGN will greatly expand our primarily Apollo-based knowledge of deep interior by identifying characterizing mantle melt layers, as well core size state. To meet objectives, instrument suite provides complementary seismic, geodetic, heat flow, electromagnetic observations. We discuss landing site requirements provide example sites that these requirements. Landing selection continue be optimized throughout formulation this mission. Possible include P-5 region within Procellarum KREEP Terrane (PKT; (lat: 15°; long: −35°), Schickard Basin −44.°3; −55.°1), Crisium 18.°5; 61.°8), farside Korolev −2.°4; −159.°3). optimization considers best observe seismic phases, e.g., ScS PKP. Ray path density proximity young fault scarps are also analyzed increased opportunities Geodetic constraints require have least three nearside stations maximum limb distances. Heat flow should obtained away from terrane boundaries magnetic anomalies representative global trends. An in-depth case study provided Crisium. In addition, we consequences scientific return less than optimal or number stations.

Lunar Science: The Moon provides a unique opportunity to study fundamental questions about the origin and evolution of the inner solar system. While it is widely believed that the Moon was created by the collision of a large object with the Earth during early planetary formation, this has not been conclusively proven. Furthermore, the mechanisms and processes by which this may have occurred are...
متن کاملOptimal Guidance for Lunar Module Soft Landing
In this paper, we consider an optimal control problem arising from the optimal guidance of a lunar module to achieving soft landing, where the description of the system dynamics is in a three-dimensional coordinate system. Our aim is to construct an optimal guidance law to realize the soft landing of the lunar module with the terminal attitude of the module to be within a small deviation from b...
متن کاملFrom Bees’ surface following to Lunar landing
To better grasp the visuomotor control system underlying insects’ height and speed control (Srinivasan et al. 1996, Portelli et al. 2010a), we attempted to interfere with this system by producing a major perturbation on the free flying insect and observing the effect of this perturbation. Honeybees were trained to fly along a high-roofed tunnel, part of which was equipped with a moving floor. T...
متن کاملHuman Responses to the Geophysical Daily, Annual and Lunar Cycles
Collectively the daily, seasonal, lunar and tidal geophysical cycles regulate much of the temporal biology of life on Earth. The increasing isolation of human societies from these geophysical cycles, as a result of improved living conditions, high-quality nutrition and 24/7 working practices, have led many to believe that human biology functions independently of them. Yet recent studies have hi...
